Track your spending in Pakistan and know what is left each week

Type what you spend in rupees, say it, or photograph the receipt, with no bank account to link. Safe to spend then shows what is left for this week once your bills and installments are set aside.

The month overview screen in the Masareefy app

An expense tracker that reads the kiryana slip too

The corner shop rarely prints a receipt, and when it gives you one, it is often written in pen. Masareefy reads handwriting as well as print, so that slip turns into lines in the add form. Nothing is saved until you check them and tap Save.

Receipt scanning

Photograph a receipt and the add form fills with the store, each item and its amount. Correct what needs it, then save.

Voice entry

Hold + and say what you bought. The add form opens filled in, and you confirm it before anything is saved.

Home-screen widget

On the Android app, record a small everyday purchase from your phone's home screen.

Shopping list

Tick what you bought and open the list as a purchase. A known price is filled in, the rest you type, then you save.

Built around how Pakistan spends

Day to day the money goes to the kiryana and the milkman, and at the weekend to the Sunday bazaar, often in cash. The month's big shop comes from Imtiaz, Al-Fatah or Chase Up, paid by card, mobile wallet or a Raast QR code. Give each its own wallet in Masareefy: cash, bank, card or mobile wallet. A balance is the figure you enter, because the app connects to no bank. When you type, the first letters bring up things you bought before, with the shop and the last price you paid.

Salaries land in the first days of the month. Set your budget then, and add the electricity bill, the internet and any installment you are paying, so each is set aside from day one. Each part has its own page: the monthly budget in rupees, the installment tracker and the receipt scanner.

Questions about tracking expenses in Pakistan

Is Masareefy free?

Yes. Logging, your budget, bills with reminders, a goal of each type, the shopping list and export are all free, with no payment card. The free plan also includes 5 receipt scans and 10 voice logs a month. Premium adds savings advice, a family member and higher limits, including 150 scans and 300 voice logs a month, and you subscribe in the Masareefy Android app.

Can I track a phone I am buying in installments from a shop?

Yes. Record it as a plan with the monthly payment, its due day, how many payments it has and how many you have paid. The app shows the payments left and the amount still owed, and sets this month's payment aside from the first day.

Can I log expenses without internet?

Yes, once you have opened the app online. Expenses you type offline are sent when the connection returns. A receipt you photograph offline waits on your phone, is read once you are connected, and is saved only after you confirm it.

Can my husband or wife record in the same ledger?

Yes. One other person can share your ledger, and what they record reaches you within moments. You alone set the budget and income and choose what they see.
